Bilal Sami is an award-winning filmmaker, producer, and screenwriter whose work has traversed both scripted and unscripted storytelling across film and television over the past two decades.

His recent producing credits include David Blaine - Do Not Attempt, a six-part documentary series for Disney+; the Pakistani crime thriller Laal Kabootar (The Red Pigeon), Pakistan's submission to the 92nd Academy Awards; and the critically acclaimed feature Dobara Phir Se (Deja Vu), which he also penned.

In 2016, Bilal directed the music documentary Dhun, featured at the Alchemy Festival at London's Southbank Centre, and collaborated with Pakistani artist Rashid Rana to create Stories We Tell, a public art project for the inaugural Lahore Biennale.

After successful running his boutique production company out of Lahore and Dubai, Bilal established the New Media and Syndication divisions of media giant Geo Entertainment between 2018 and 2020. Since then, he has been involved in projects spanning Pakistan, the UAE, the UK, and the US.

Bilal’s latest documentary feature project Hanging by a Wire which he produced and co-wrote with director Mo Naqvi will premiere on the opening day of the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.

A member of the US Television Academy, Bilal is based in Brooklyn, New York.
